December 7th-16th: "...Or Dreaming"
...Or Dreaming (Based on August Strindberg's A Dream Play)
Produced by Pariah Theatre Company; Adapted and directed by Tara Brooke Watkins.
Opens Friday, December 7th and runs through December 16th at the South Shore YMCA in Quincy.
Tickets are $20 ($18 for seniors/students), and reservations are required.
2012 marks the centennial of August Strindberg's death, and to celebrate the great work of his life, The Pariah Theatre Company launches one of Strindberg's famed expressionist plays, A Dream Play, in adaptation form. ...Or Dreaming brings audiences into the story of Agnes, daughter of the god Indra, sent down to Earth to understand human suffering.
Unlike typical theatre productions in which the audience sits to watch the play, audiences in Pariah's production will follow the story, room by room. You choose which version you would like to watch, you choose which character's story you want to hear, you choose how long you want to stay.
Through this immersive theatre style, August Strindberg's dream of creating a play in which "characters split, double, multiply, evaporate, condense, dissolve, and merge" comes true. "But one consciousness rules them all: the dreamer's; for him there are no secrets, no inconsistencies, no scruples and no laws."
I will be playing one of three Daughters (or "Agnes" as described above). If you are interested in following my story, I recommend purchasing tickets for a 7:45PM start time (although you will be able to find and follow me regardless of the start time you choose). Tickets are NOT available at the door, so please purchase ahead of time!
